In honour of MARUANI MERCIER’s more than two-decade relationship with prolific American artist Peter Halley, the gallery will present the master colourist’s paintings from the 1980s for their debut at Art Basel 2024. Halley produced 188 paintings during this decade, introducing a post-conceptual language that continues to define his work to this day. With over 140 of the works currently held in collections worldwide, the gallery will showcase a rare opportunity to discover the last exceptional paintings available from this era. Each with an impressive provenance and exhibition history, the selection examines the formative era which made him a standout figure of the Neo-Geo movement.
